MARCH STAGE CAMP BY STC

Taking a leaf out of The Little Company’s production of Errol’s Garden, STC’s March Stage Camp hopes to plant seeds of appreciation for nature in your young actors! Working with STC’s experienced teaching team, your young actors will explore stories on the environment to learn about community, conservation, and sustainability and grow in confidence, creativity, and communication. At the end of the week, join us at the theatre to watch them bloom on stage!

STC’s Stage Camp is a devised programme that takes on a child-centred, process-first approach leading up to an informal stage showcase on the final day. As part of our commitment to the environment, your young actors will be working with recyclable materials during STC’s March Stage Camp.

4 – 6 Year Olds

Colourful flowers, fragrant herbs, juicy fruits – if you had a garden, what do you want to grow in it? And how do we work together with our neighbours and friends to make it our favourite place in the world? Exploring stories on nature and the environment, your young actors will learn about community and cultivating green spaces!

STC’s Stage Camp is a devised programme that takes on a child-centred, process-first approach leading up to an informal stage showcase on the final day.

Together with an experienced teaching artist, your young actor(s) will…

  • Devise a showcase based on the given theme
  • Explore drama skills such as storytelling, movement, and self-expression
  • Develop their listening and communication skills
  • Grow in confidence and stretch their imagination
  • Understand the morals and values of community and environmental conservation

7 – 12 Year Olds

An egg crate that holds plants, a musty boot that turns into a nest, old glass bottles that become suncatchers – one person’s trash can be another person’s treasure. Exploring stories on nature and the environment, your young actors will get to fire up their imagination, learn about sustainability in a creative way, and perhaps begin to see the things around them from a different point of view!

STC’s Stage Camp is a devised programme that takes on a child-centred, process-first approach leading up to an informal stage showcase on the final day.

Together with an experienced teaching artist, your young actor(s) will…

  • Stage a devised showcase that explores alternative perspectives and sustainability
  • Learn theatre techniques such as Tableau, Characterisation, and Vocal Expression
  • Develop their self-awareness and stage presence
  • Strengthen their leadership skills and work together as an ensemble
  • Exercise their creativity and imagination
